Tahoe/Truckee Weekend Events – New Year’s Eve:

We hope you had a wonderfully Merry Christmas. Now it is time to party down for the New Year! Here is a list of some fun New Year’s Eve events for you to consider. Along with these events, every self-respecting bar and casino in and around Tahoe will have something going on that night. Be safe, have fun and call a cab if needed – the police and CHP/NHP will be out in full force that night:

New Year’s Eve Celebration at Jake’s from 5:30pm – Come early with the family for an Ala Carte Menu, or come later for a 3-course Prix Fixe menu, and ring in the New Year with party hats, a champagne toast, & dancing. Guaranteed reservations required.

New Year’s Eve at Northstar starting at 8pm – Ring in the New Year during our annual Fire & Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration – it’s guaranteed fun for all ages! There will be a DJ, live music by Led Zeppelin 2 – The Live Experience, a spectacular Fireworks show, smores, drink specials, shopping, dining, ice skating and more.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Squaw Valley begins at 9:30pm – Ring in the New Year at Squaw Valley with a New Year’s Eve Fireworks Extravaganza. The show starts at 9:30pm and is viewable from the Base Area. Grab a hot cocoa and find a seat as you take in the New Year with an amazing firework display at the bottom of the mountain. 

New Year’s Eve Dinner Buffet at The Ritz-Carlton from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM – Celebrate the impending arrival of 2012 at The Ritz-Carlton over a sumptuous buffet of seasonal, culinary delights with favorites for the entire family. Adults $95.00, Children ages 4 to 10 $35.00, Children under 4 complimentary.

Pre-New Year’s Eve Cocktail Party at Alpine Meadows from 2pm-5pm – Plan your new beginning at the Alpine Bar this New Year’s Eve! The Pre-New Year’s Eve Cocktail party is the perfect way to jump-start the countdown to midnight. Featuring festive cocktails, delicious appetizers and live music by Peter Joseph Burtt, skiers and riders can celebrate a resolution, bid 2011 farewell, and ring in 2012.

Lone Eagle Grille New Year Celebration at Hyatt Regency, Incline Village from 5:30-12:30am – Have a classy blast listening to the DJ in the lounge then Dine on the regular dinner menu from 5:30-7:00pm or opt to enjoy a 5-course meal from 8:00-10:30. Either way you choose, this New Year is going to be fashionably stylish and a lot of fun in the Lone Eagle Grille. 

New Year’s Eve Bash at The Hyatt beginning at 9:00pm – Ring in the new year with a top 40 DJ, Drinks, and Dancing all night long in Cutthroat’s Saloon.

Tahoe/Truckee Weekend Events – December 16 to 18:

The weather has been too nice, we are really getting down on our knees and praying hard for snow. The lack of snow makes for an easy drive up though and we might have a little dusting tomorrow. So come on up and enjoy some of these fun events:

December 16 – Toccata Presents Annual Messiah Series at the Resort at Squaw Creek – Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus presents selections from Handel’s Messiah as well as other holiday favorites. This concert is at the Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley. Other concerts will be December 17 at NTEC in Kings Beach and December 20 at Assumption Catholic Church in Truckee.

December 17 – Snow God’s Ball – This is a benefit for the Squaw Valley Avalanche Awareness Education Fund. There will be live music, door prizes, raffle prizes and silent auction items Tickets are $20 at the door/$15 in advance. (21 & older only)

December 17 to 23 – Skiing for Schools – Sugar Bowl Ski Resort. $35 lift tickets can be purchased the week prior at Porters Sports in Truckee and Tahoe City. Proceeds go to Excellence in Education Foundation.

December 17to 31 – Holidays at Squaw – Family events, Santa, Holiday torchlight parade. Squaw decorates the mountain with mini stockings filled with presents, Christmas carolers and lights.

Tahoe/Truckee Weekend Events – November 4 to 6

Beautiful fall weather has been the norm lately, but there are some changes on the horizon. There is cooler than usual temps and a slight chance of the white stuff in the forecast for the weekend. Here are some fun events to enjoy:

November 5 – Chocolate, Wine & Roses Festival ~ Incline Village – This themed event will highlight the Rat Pack Era in North Tahoe in the 60′s. Guests will enjoy delectable chocolate creations by 8 of Tahoe’s finest culinary artists, taste fine wine from more than 10 wineries near and far, and bid on tatalizing live & silent auction items. Heavy appetizers will be served. Come dressed as your favorite Rat Pack or come as you are. Cocktail attire suggested.

 November 5 – Truckee Ski Swap – Great deals on downhill, cross country and snowboarding equipment for the entire family can be found at the Truckee Community Recreation Center from 11 am to 4 pm. $2 charge at the door.

Tahoe/Truckee Weekend Events – October 20- 23

Beautiful fall weather is once again forecast for this weekend – perfect for a nice hike or bike ride. We are getting into the time when the trees are changing colors, creating a wonderful backdrop for just about any activity.

October 20 – 21: Historical Haunted Walking Tour in Truckee – Begin at Moody’s Bistro & Lounge and travel on foot to the most historic and fascinating haunts in town. Old timers will tell historic tales of the Wild West, ladies of nocturnal delight will sing a tune and entertaining characters will share titillating folklore along the nearly two hour walk. Covering Truckee’s most historic sites, the tour will entertain guests from near and far with spooky legends and unsolved mysteries. 

October 21: Truckee Pink Party – Come on out to the Bar of America beginning at 6:30pm for a crazy fun party, with all proceeds benefitting local cancer patients. Drinks, live music by the Emily Tessmer Band, appetizers, auctions and pink costume contest. Tickets are $25/$35 at the door.

October 22: Pumpkin Patch Carnival – Bring the kids and come out to enjoy carnival games, pony rides, egg scramble, bounce house and of course pumpkins! The event takes place at Rideout Community Center just south of Tahoe City on the West Shore from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Tahoe/Truckee Weekend Events – October 14- 16

Beautiful fall weather is forecast for this weekend – perfect for a nice hike or bike ride. The big event this weekend is the 22nd Annual Foam Fest, a wonderful event which benefits Disabled Sports USA. It is a great weekend to come up and enjoy the area and a beer or two.

October 15: 22nd Annual Foam Fest – Beer enthusiasts can sample from more than 40 microbreweries when Disabled Sports USA Far West hosts its 22nd annual Foam Fest. The festival will be held at the new Truckee Community Recreation Center in Truckee. This year’s Foam Fest will feature a pre-event Gourmet Beer-Pairing Dinner with presentations from select brewers from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The regular event follows starting at 7:00 and ending at 10:30 pm. The FOAM FEST is one of the most highly anticipated local events of the year that helps kick off the winter ski season! It is a gathering of good friends who enjoy good beer and getting together to support a good cause! All proceeds go towards helping people with disabilities get out on the slopes. Tahoe/Truckee Weekend Events – October 1 – 2

There are some great events this weekend for you ‘foodies’ out there. We have the Wine, Walk and Shop event and Octoberfest! This weekend also kicks off Restaurant Week – a week long event with discounts at participating venues all around Tahoe and Truckee. It is a great weekend to come up and enjoy these fun events or take a look at some great deals on the market right now.

October 1: Truckee Downtown Wine Walk & Shop – Visit historic downtown Truckee and sip wine, taste scrumptious food samples and enjoy shopping. Wine and food will be available from 12 to 4. Tickets are available from Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce. 

October 1: 10th Annual Village Oktoberfest at Squaw Valley – Celebrate the arrival of fall at The Village at Squaw Valley as we pay tribute to beer, bratwurst and Bavarian-style fun. Bavarian Bands will play classic favorites, folk dancers perform traditional dance and festival goers can compete in contests including the Stein Holding Competition, Keg Race and the Bratwurst Toss. Entertainment is free, however visitors can enjoy a variety of German beers. Event benefits Tahoe Truckee Lacrosse Assoc.

October 2 – 9: Lake Tahoe Restaurant Week – Restaurant Week offers 3-course, prix-fixe menus at 50+ participating restaurants throughout the Lake Tahoe region for $20, $30 or $40 per person. The event kicks off October 2 and runs through Sunday, October 9. No tickets or coupons are required to enjoy these delicious offerings at exceptional values. September 16 – September 18: Cool September Days Car Show – The event takes place at the Tahoe Biltmore Front Parking Lot This is the final car show of the year and the BIGGEST!

 September 17: Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race at Northstar Resort – This 12 hour multisport race includes kayaking, mountain biking and a trail run. The event starts and finishes at the Village at Northstar. This provides you the opportunity to experience one of the finest mountain villages in North America. Bring the family. 

September 17: Peaks & Paws Festival at the Village at Squaw - Meet, greet & sniff. Socialize with friends and animals with wine tasting, vendors and live music at The Village at Squaw Valley. Event benefits the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. 

September 17: Tough Mudder Northern Cal ~ The Toughest Event on the Planet - This is not your average lame-ass mud run or spirit-crushing ‘endurance’ road race. Our 10-12 mile obstacle courses are designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. Forget finish times. Simply completing a Tough Mudder is a badge of honor. Tough Mudder has raised over one million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project 

September 18: Emerald Bay Trail Run – The Run starts at Eagle Point and then takes you around Emerald Bay and up the Rubicon Trail to D.L. Bliss State Park to finish at Lester Beach. The course is a 7.5 mile/12Km point to point route. The course is fast with low/moderate climbing

While the weather says summer is still in full force, the crowds say school has started. Looks to be a great weekend to come on up to the mountains and enjoy some events and take a look a some property!

August 26: Jazz on the Lawn at Sugar Pine Point State Park  - Join California State Parks and the West Shore Business Association for a memorable evening of Big Band music watching the sun set over Lake Tahoe. It starts at 5, so bring your low back chairs and picnic dinner for a fun time. El Dorado County Wines will be offered for sale.

August 27: Village at Northstar Wine Walk- Ferrari-Carano – Enjoy wine and food sampling stations throughout the Village from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. $25/$30 sampler includes a commemorative wine glass.

August 27 – 28: Peaks & Paws Festival at Squaw Valley – 2:00 to 8:00 PM Spend a weekend of fun with your Pet. Enjoy Art, Wine & Beer Tasting, Vendors, Outdoor Activities, BBQ and continuous live bluegrass. Socialize with friends and animals at The Village at Squaw Valley. Great food & great bands, including the Dead Winter Carpenters and more! Proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.

Tahoe/Truckee Weekend Events – August 12 – 14

It looks to be another perfect summer weekend in Tahoe/Truckee, so come on up to the mountains and enjoy these fun events and our beautiful area!

August 12 – 13: 40th Annual Lake Tahoe Concourse d’Elegance – The Lake Tahoe Concours has become one of the most prestigious wooden boat shows in North America, drawing 80-110 antique and classic boat entries and 5,000 spectators. The meticulously restored entries include historic lakers and launches, some dating back to 1915; pre and post-WWII racers and runabouts; utility boats to flashy Rivas which are divided into 14 classes for judging to “as delivered from the factory” standards.

August 13: XC/Downhill Mountain Bike Clinic – Northstar is offering a NEW bike clinic on Saturdays that is ideal for cross-country riders who want to learn downhill techniques including proper cornering, breaking, stance, balance and line choice. Clinic routes are the same rides utilized during the Thursday Night XC Races. Only $15 for a 2-hour clinic and includes an all-day pedal pass. Meets at Plaza Bikes in the Village at Northstar at 9:15 a.m.

August 14: 10th Annual Brews, Jazz & Funk Fest at the Village at Squaw Valley – Squaw Valley will pair up cold brews with hot music when some of the most recognized jazz and funk favorites perform under the peaks of Squaw Valley USA. Festival goers can listen to continuous live music on two stages while sampling the offerings of more than 20 breweries. Festival is open to all ages and well behaved dogs are welcome on a leash. All proceeds benefit Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.

August 5: Music on the Beach in Kings Beach – Come on out and enjoy some free music in an amazing setting. This week’s featured performer is Tracorum.

August 6: 31st Annual Squaw Mountain Run – Starting at the base of Squaw Valley, the course climbs the 3.6 mile mountain run to High Camp (8200’) where awards, raffle, music, light refreshments & beer are provided. Participants can choose to run, hike or Nordic walk. For the less energetic – let the cable car do the 2000 foot elevation gain & participate in the beautiful 3 mile flower walk on easy rolling terrain.
